Bracell recognized for the first time at the Expression Ecology Award

Company received the “Expression Ecology Award” in the Natural Resource Conservation category with the One-for-One Commitment

As a reinforcement of its growing commitment to sustainability, Bracell received the Prêmio Expressão de Ecologia (Expression Ecology Award) for its One-for-One Commitment, an unprecedented initiative in the pulp sector that establishes the conservation of one hectare of native forest for every hectare of eucalyptus planted. The award, promoted by Editora Expressão, is the oldest in Brazil in the environmental segment, recognized by the Ministry of the Environment.

This year, the award, which previously covered only cities in southern Brazil, was extended to São Paulo, allowing Bracell to participate and be awarded for the first time. The company’s project was selected from more than 100 environmental initiatives from the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. The “Green Wave Trophy” award ceremony took place at the Costão do Santinho Resort in Florianópolis (SC) and was attended by various business leaders and environmental sector specialists.

“The One-for-One Commitment is an important initiative within Bracell’s sustainability strategy and is aligned with the company’s core values. This significant recognition only highlights our dedication to environmental preservation and the responsible use of natural resources,” says Marcio Nappo, Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Communication at the company.

Expansion to Mato Grosso do Sul

In July this year, Bracell expanded the area preserved by the One-for-One Commitment by signing an agreement with the government of Mato Grosso do Sul, committing to support the conservation and protection of biodiversity in more than 118,000 hectares of the state, including areas in the Pantanal region. This step is aligned with Bracell 2030, the sustainability agenda launched by the company in 2023, which sets ambitious goals for environmental conservation and climate change mitigation. By the end of 2023, the company had already reached 92% of the target set for the One-for-One Commitment – the goal is to achieve 100% by 2025.

This expansion reinforced Bracell’s role in biodiversity conservation beyond the production area and is fully integrated with the broader vision of Bracell 2030. “We will continue to invest in initiatives that reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation, promoting a balance between our operations and the preservation of natural resources. Our goal is to contribute to a more sustainable and balanced future for the next generations,” says Nappo.
